Agnes Hoon

Agnes Hoon passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020 at the age of 96 surrounded by her family at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents, Peder Melsten and Jessie Ayres; her brother Bob Melston and grandson Tim Shelley.

She left her daughters behind, Eleanor Ann Shelley of Kalispell; Nancy Williams (husband Earl) of Yakima, Washington; sons, Mick Hoon (wife Brenda) of Kalispell, Dan Hoon of LaQuinta, Colorado, and Tom Anstead of Muleshoe, Texas; grandchildren, Tammy Birk, Tara Jacobs (Aaron), Travis Williams (Heather), Dustin Hoon (Erin), Cody Hoon, Jake Hoon (Caitlyn), Clint Hoon, Nathan Hoon (Elsa), and Megan Hoon; great grandchildren; Colton, Nicole, Illyhia, Marshall Birk, Natalie and Paxton Jacobs, Gillian Hoon, Easton, Ely, Noah, Samson and Silas Hoon.

She attended Dayton High School in Dayton, Washington in 1941.  Agnes Melsten married Ray Hoon on September 20, 1941.  She enjoyed genealogy and her Norwegian heritage. Also sewing and was secretary of Centiannas homemakers club, gardening, quilting and flowers.  She had a special and personal relationship with her hairdresser and nail operator. Always had pink in her hair. She thought the world of Dean, her mechanic.  She participated with her girls in Rainbow girls, campfire girls, sporting events with her sons. Proud of being a Rebecca.  She was an avid fan of the Spokane Indians, Seattle Mariners and were ticket season holders to Missoula Ospreys.

She followed along with her husband on baseball, basketball, football and any other sports you name including Tiddlywinks.  Agnes loved to cook.  Whenever someone was sick, she came with a big pot of chicken soup. She was quick to provide meals to anyone in need.  She loved her thimble collection, long rides with ice cream, her favorite place was Avalanche Lake, the buffalo range and picnics, breakfast burritos and lattes at McDonalds.

Mom’s handwriting was so very beautiful that she would get compliments.

Funeral services for Agnes will be on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 12:00 pm with a viewing at 11:00 am at Darlington Cremation and Burial Service, 3408 US Hwy 2 East, Kalispell, Montana. A catered lunch will follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
