Scott O. Lyford Obituary

Scott Lyford passed from this life to his permanent home in heaven in the late afternoon of March 20, 2019. He was surrounded by members of his family.

Born in Kalispell on Jan. 26, 1958, to Bob and Gloria Lyford, Scott spent his early years at the family home near Helena Flats School, where he also attended grade and elementary schools. He excelled in sports including baseball (Kalispell Lakers) and football (Flathead Braves). Scott graduated from Flathead High School in 1976.

At the age of 19, he traveled to Alaska, then Wyoming to pursue a career in the oil business. A few years later, he moved to Las Vegas, where he had a long, successful career as a skilled Union Masoner working on multiple large casino projects.

After retiring, he moved back to Kalispell in 2017 upon the passing of his father to tend to the family home and pursue his passions for hunting, shooting, and various outdoor activities. Scott was a caring, thoughtful man, and was happy to spend his last years at home in the great Northwest Montana.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife Carleen of Indian Springs, Nevada; parents, Bob and Gloria; five uncles, Wilbur and Ronnie Lyford, Wayne, Dale, and Clayton Logan; and aunt Viola Kluender. Scott is survived by his Uncle Jerry and wife Gail, and Aunt Lois, as well as three brothers, one sister, and 12 nieces and nephews; Mark and wife Irene, and children, Christa, Amanda and Nathan, of Stanwood, Washington; Daniel and wife Jill, and daughters, Kelsey and Kimi, of Columbia Falls; Tom and wife Martha, and children, Jordyn, Chase, Sydney and Zachary of Laguna Niguel, California; and sister Jewel, and husband Matt Dyson, and children, Chandler, McKynzie and Colton, of Placentia, California.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brendan House Skilled Nursing Facility for their unfailing care and assistance, and to acknowledge and thank many special friends for their support as well. We request memorial donations be given to the The Cowboy Church, Brendan House, or a charity of your choice.
