Douglas Oliver Obituary

Douglas Edward Oliver, 71, passed away at his home in Kalispell, MT on May 9, 2022. Doug was born in the 1950's in Montana, the second son to Orval and Ethel Oliver.

After graduating high school in Shelby, MT, Doug worked in Alaska on a fishing boat and spent time with his brother in Denver before settling in Conrad, MT. He married Kathy Legare and together they had 2 children. He and Kathy later divorced, and he married Jody Kirkpatrick and they were blessed with 4 more children. Doug and Jody moved to Martin City, MT and Doug went to work for FH Stoltze Lumber where he was employed until he retired.

Doug was a skilled carpenter and many of his nights and weekends were spent either remodeling their house or making picnic tables to sell in order to supplement his income. If you bought a picnic table in the greater Kalispell area in the 1980’s or 1990’s, it was most likely made by Doug. He was very proud that his tables were the main seating when the Big Sky Water Park in Columbia Falls, MT first opened up.

Doug was an avid hunter and fisherman and passed his love of the outdoors to his children. His prize bull moose was on display for many years at Whitefish Credit Union and now holds a place of honor in his home.

No services will be held at this time.
