Gregory Dramer Obituary

Gregory Carl Dramer, 81, died peacefully at home in Bigfork on July 29, 2022, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Born in New Jersey to Ruth and Carley Dramer, he was the oldest of four sons.

The family moved slowly westward, arriving in Columbia Falls in 1953. After high school graduation, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman, then enlisted in the Air Force in 1960 and was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska.

While in Anchorage. he met and married Madonna Sue Mattingly. They had three sons, James Anthony, Michael Dennis, and Christopher Joseph. He often said, "I give all the credit to Sue. She raised four boys, me and our three sons."

After retirement in 1999, Greg returned to Montana. The following year, he married Jo Ann Hacke Speelman.

The couple participated in numerous volunteer opportunities across the country and in Belize. They enjoyed hiking, bicycling and skiing, traveling around Montana and Arizona and in Europe with friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his first wife, Sue Uhlin; sons, James Dramer and wife Peggy, Michael Dramer and wife Heather, and Christopher Dramer and wife Amy; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary, Mary Morgan, Mattingly, Logan, Anna Reed and Jacob Gates; and his three brothers, Peter, Edwin and Lawrence.

Darlington Cremation handled his remains and his ashes will be scattered as per his wishes.

At his request, a private celebration of life is planned for this fall.
