Jason Christy Obituary

Jason Spencer Christy passed away on January 5, 2021 in Kalispell, Montana at the age of 49. He was born on November 9, 1971 in Denver, Colorado. He was welcomed into the world by his Mother Val Lankford and older sister Lisa Christy. He spent his childhood in Montbello, Colorado where he developed many lifelong friends and spent many hours playing football, baseball, swimming, and causing mischief with his friends and sister. He graduated from Montbello High School in 1990.

In 1993, he met the love of his life, Terri Starks, and they were married in 1997 surrounded by family and friends. Together, they spent 12 years in Colorado before settling down in Montana to raise their family and enjoy outdoor adventures together. They have 3 sons together, Spencer, Aiden, and Kyler. Jason and Terri loved spending time with their boys camping, fishing, rafting, and traveling. Jason was an avid golfer and shared that passion with his friends and sons. He was a dedicated father who loved to coach his boys in football, baseball, and basketball. His greatest joy was watching his kids excel in sports and academics. Above all, Jason was a proud dad who cherished every moment with his sons. They were the joy and loves of his life.

Jason graduated from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 2002 with a B.S. in Business/Finance. With a desire to make a difference, he returned to college when he moved to Montana to obtain his BA in Education/math and social science through the University of Great Fall. Ultimately, he achieved his Masters in Education through the University of Montana. In 2006, Jason began his lifelong dream of becoming a teacher focusing on middle school math, science, and history. After teaching for 6 years, he took a principal position at a K-8 school where he hoped to have a bigger impact on kids. Ultimately, he decided to return to the classroom and teach, which was his real passion.

Jason is survived by his Mother Val Lankford; sister Lisa Christy; sons Spencer Charles, Aiden Robert, and Kyler Jason; many nieces and nephews; as well as his 3 lifelong friends whom he considered brothers Matt Blue, Chris Lujan, and Jon Gyhra.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Testamentary Trust of Jason Christy for the support of secondary education for his 3 sons.
