In Loving Memory of Kristi Blair (1955–2025)
Kristi Blair was born in 1955 to Ralph Fletcher and Kathleen Hansen and spent her childhood across Southern California, with a memorable stint in Hawaii. She is survived by her four children—Adriane, Jennifer, Kyle, and Katherine—who will forever carry her stories, humor, and love with them.
As an adolescent, Kristi was an accomplished equestrian, earning multiple awards in competitions. Her father proudly displayed her ribbons for many years, a testament to her dedication and natural talent. Kristi’s love of learning never faded; she remained a voracious reader throughout her life, devouring the works of Stephen King, James Patterson, and the occasional delightfully “trashy” romance novel. She possessed a unique, sharp-witted sense of humor—matched only by her unforgettable laugh.
Kristi embraced life with curiosity and a sense of adventure. During her first marriage, before having children, she worked with elephants at a safari park in Austria and spent time living in Italy while traveling through Europe. She loved music and was an incredible dancer. She even ventured into acting, appearing in several B-rated horror films in the 1970s—photos of which she later shared proudly (and with plenty of laughter) with her children.
A lover of history, Kristi delighted in stories, including her own family’s past. She researched and documented her ancestry to give her children a deeper understanding of where they came from, preserving everything she could from the generations before her. At home, she expressed her love through food, creating unforgettable meals—most famously a lasagna that may forever remain unmatched. No matter what her work life looked like, she made sure dinner was on the table each night.
Some of the sweetest memories she leaves behind are the simple, tender ones: fairy tales read at bedtime, Sunday morning comics shared while nestled in a mountain of pillows on her bed, the newspaper divided among her children as they laughed and lingered together.
Kristi was not without her faults or shortcomings, as none of us are, but there was never any doubt that she loved her children deeply. She tried her best—always—and she will be profoundly missed.
Her spirit lives on in the stories she told, the history she preserved, and the love she gave so freely.
