Thea Rae Borgen was called home by her Lord Sunday, July 12, 2020 at her home in Columbia Falls, MT.
Thea was born January 28, 1950 to Norman and Florence Borgen of Kalispell, MT. Following graduation, Thea worked as a secretary for Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Soon after, she married Steve Curtiss and moved to Eureka to begin a family. She was a devoted mother to her children and volunteered as a 4-H leader, worked at the school, and helped on the family ranch. The couple also owned a feed store.
After her divorce, Thea moved to Columbia Falls to pursue her education. She eventually earned a degree in education and political science with a minor in geography and an emphasis in special education. Later, she earned a Master of Arts in Education Administration and Supervision. Thea was a dedicated teacher and advocate, having a special place in her heart for each of her students. Thea was passionate about her faith, family, and service to others.
A brain tumor forced her retirement and eventually she moved to Timber Creek Village in Columbia Falls where she received wonderful care. Thea was preceded in death by a son, Stephen and her parents, Norman and Florence. She is survived by her children, Rae Lynn Hays (Jon), Jason Curtiss (Tanya), and Kendall Gislason, as well as 13 grandchildren: Trestin, Peyton, Justin, Darian, Sierra, Jaya, Tiyler, Kyah, Tracer, Strait, Kyrie, Trygve, and Steele. She is also survived by siblings Dennis Borgen, (Jan), Vicky Brookman, and Wendy McCaffree (Ernie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 17 at 10 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell, MT. Everyone is asked to please wear a mask as we gather.
